A geologist by training, Tim has been in the industry for over 28 years, focusing on globally significant projects through advanced exploration, feasibility & development and has a proven track record of delivery.
Tim has Operational & Country Management experience, has operated in several Executive (C suite) & Board positions and has well-developed CSR & Government Relations skills, alongside an expansive technical knowledge of project and company management. He has worked across mid-tier & major mining sectors.
Working extensively in Africa from the late 1980’s until 2005, Tim was involved with the development of the Nkomati Nickel Mine (South Africa) and the Kabanga Nickel Project (Tanzania).
After returning to Europe, Tim established Barrick Gold’s Eurasian Exploration team, focusing mainly on the porphyry and epithermal deposits in the Tethyan Belt. In addition, Tim initiated and managed Barrick Gold’s Global Drill Support & Technology team, with responsibility for global exploration drilling programmes, contracting and HSE.
Most recently Tim focused on the Middle East and Asia, working as Project Director, and later as CEO of Tethyan Copper Company’s Reko Diq project in Pakistan (a Joint Venture between Barrick Gold and Antofagasta Minerals). Tim remains an advisor to Barrick’s Executive on the project.
He has also acted as Managing Director (Saudi Arabia) for Barrick, on the Jabal Sayid Joint Venture in Saudi Arabia.
In 2014, Tim took the opportunity to set up his own consultancy and has been active on various projects in the Balkans, Africa and the Middle East.
